Another Sports Xtra Friday night in the books! Really busy night for us tonight (6 games, three outside of Billings, including the Shepherd Girls game that didn't start until 9:00 PM...yikes!)
Overall, a fairly predictable night on the hoops scene...the top story has to be Plenty Coups finishing a perfect 18-0 regular season with a 93-63 win over Roberts. Go see the Warriors if you like offense...they average about 85 a game, and are forces to be reckoned with in the path to the C State title.
Elsewhere...Senior night out in Shepherd...both the graduating Stangs and Fillies are sent off with a win...although the undefeated Fillies were down 11-1 before they remembered why they were undefeated...and then won 72-38...
In the battle for 4th in the Eastern AA, Senior Girls took Great Falls to Double OT before losing by 5. The Lady Broncs just don't seem to be able to get over that hump...as for the Lady Falcons, their struggles continued with a 31-point home loss to CMR...Kate Brew looked good though...As for the boys, same teams, different venues, and different results...Skyview beats CMR for their 1st Eastern AA wins (I told you they were getting better!)...and Senior beats Great Falls by 5 behind a career-high 30 from A.J. Paine (man, is that kid an athlete...)
As for Laurel in Columbus...thanks to a schedule misprint, that one won't happen until tonight (7:30 PM in Columbus)...instead, Columbus hosted Lodge Grass and coasted to a 76-30 win.
Absolutely HUGE day tomorrow in the sports world...we find out which wrestlers go to state, and two hude hoops showdowns between West and Butte, 1 and 2 in the boys and girls Eastern AA. Until then...
